For me, writing is all about the inspiration. It’s a bit cheesy, but I never feel more alive than when something has provoked an intense emotion in me, and I’m inspired to sit down and write.
And the things that most inspire me are usually creative in some way.
This post is the first in a series of articles about the things that I’m passionate about, and I’ve decided to start with my latest obsession – Instagram.
For those that aren’t yet initiated in the popular photo app, Instagram is a basically a program that allows you to add filters to your photographs to give them a vintage, artistic look. It’s great for people like me who love taking pictures, but don’t have a lot of skills with a camera.
There are some really breath-taking images being shared via Instagram; I especially love the dramatic landscapes and whimsical portraits that are a feature of the site.
The photo I’ve used in the header of this blog arose from Instagram, and I have a similar image posted on my profile. One of my followers, @jimmiexplosion, left what I thought was a beautiful comment on it:
“I wrote underneath a similar photo recently about how I love shots of pages of books; they remind me of overhearing, even for a moment in passing, an intense conversation between two people.”
It always amazes me how something so simple as a picture of the pages of a random book can inspire such a striking idea, but this is the whole reason I love to write, because I want to find the right words to move people.
