Much as we complain constantly about the state of the British weather, whether it’s too warm or too cold, there’s a flood or a drought – I love the moody, overcast days that we get so often in this country. They perfectly suit my contemplative creative moods.
I find it easiest to be creative when I immerse myself in my own little bubble and shut out the world. A rainy day helps to craft the right conditions. The sound of the rain drumming against the window is soothing and peaceful and helps me to centre my thoughts on an idea or a piece of writing.
The last couple of days it has rained constantly. There have been floods all over the country. Roads have been closed and trains cancelled. It’s the ideal time to take the day off work, settle on the sofa and cocoon inside that bubble.
