Last week I recommended some apps that are great for those who love to read. This week, I thought a natural companion would be a post on apps for writers.
From organisation and productivity to inspiration and research, these apps can help you out with the full writing process. Plus, bloggers are included too!
A Novel Idea – FREE
A productivity app to help you plan out your ideas, characters, plotlines and more in a simple interface.
iA Writer – £0.69
This app lets you write with ease on your iPad or iPhone.
WriteChain – FREE
A great little app that helps to keep your writing on course by tracking word count and prompting you if you failed to meet your target.
Advanced English Dictionary and Thesaurus – FREE
No further explanation is required. Essential for all writers.
Pocket – FREE
If you come across interesting articles, images or video online, simply email them to your pocket and it will save them for you for later. Love this one.
Writer’s Studio – £0.69
Allows you to create and ‘publish’ your own book, which you can upload to YouTube or email in PDF format.
Plain Text – FREE
A basic app that allows you to write and edit on a clean interface, it also syncs with Dropbox so you can manage your writing projects.
Story Tracker – £5.49
Useful for those who have already had some work published and are earning money from it. This helps you track deadlines, finances and where your work has been submitted. A basic free version is also available.
PaperHelper – £1.49
Keep your writing on one side of the screen and your research on the other; easily flick between the two.
Proof – £2.49
Use this to give or receive feedback on work in progress.
iThoughts HD – £6.99
A mind mapping tool that helps you to note down and structure your ideas.
Blogsy – £2.99
I couldn’t finish the post without recommending an app for bloggers. Blog with ease from your iPad; you can drag and drop photos and video into your posts, format text, create links and more.
Can you recommend any apps that make a writer’s life easier or more inspired?
