When I was a child, I used to love going on days out to Brimham Rocks, which is just outside Ripon in North Yorkshire. We recently went back for the afternoon and I spent an hour playing with my camera, taking photographs of the scenery.
That is, after we wrestled with the sat nav on some of the obscure country roads in the area. After getting us lost about four times and offering no help at all, it proudly proclaimed, “Turn right here.” Right outside the car park. Yeah, don’t pretend you got us there sat nav, we all know what happened.
Run by the National Trust, Brimham Rocks is a collection of dramatic rock formations with stunning views over the Yorkshire countryside. It’s a great place for climbers, families and walkers, so it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
