I’ve never really been one for New Year’s resolutions, but I do like to think about my goals for the year when January rolls around.
This feels especially important this year, as I will be turning 30 (gulp!) in December. So I’ve got just under a year to round out my twenties and I want to make the most of my last few months, whether it means ticking a big life goal or two off the list, travelling more, spending time with friends or writing furiously.
A few of my goals for the year ahead are:
- To practice my photography before I head back to Iceland, in hopes that I can get some decent Northern Lights photographs (fingers crossed).
- To finish editing my first novel, Broken Things, and take the plunge into self-publishing. You have my permission to ask me about this – I need nagging!
- To finish writing my new novel and hopefully get it to a point where I can submit it.
- To read at least 50 books, including more classics and literary fiction. I’m planning to change my reading process a little, and start recording the books I’ve read so I can reflect on them more easily and balance out my reading across different genres. I’m planning to share more about this on the blog too.
- To keep writing regular blog posts and hopefully build Ten Penny Dreams and find new readers.
- To take a trip with my hubby to at least one of these places: London, New York, Amsterdam, Santorini.
- To enjoy the small things in life more and stop worrying so much about the big picture.
So, you’ve heard about my goals for the next 12 months, I’d love to hear about yours.
I hope 2014 turns out to be the best year yet!
