The last month has been one of two vastly different halves when it comes to reading.
I started the month in a bit of a frenzy, devouring several books in the first couple of weeks, often finishing each book in only a few hours.
Then the last two weeks, I’ve hit a wall and only managed to creep my way through one novel. Mostly this has been down to circumstance; I had endless free time at the start of the month and none at the end, thanks to an unexpected deadline forcing me to finish writing my novel at short notice.
But again, I’ve read some great stuff. There have been a few high points this month, but I think my favourite has to be JK Rowling’s crime novel, The Cuckoo’s Calling, which she famously wrote under the pen name Robert Galbraith.
Some of you might be surprised to know that I’ve never read one Rowling’s novels before. Yep, that’s right; I’ve never so much as cracked the spine on a Harry Potter tale. Maybe one day.
But that day might be a little bit sooner now; thanks to how much I loved The Cuckoo’s Calling. I enjoy a good crime novel and this one was so much better than I anticipated: great writing, interesting characters and a clever, twisty but fun plot. I’ll definitely be watching out for Mr Galbraith’s next effort!
I also finally got around to the third Games of Thrones book (the first part anyway) and am frantically trying to find time for the next one before the series starts back up on Sky in a few days. One way or another, there are going to be spoilers…
So, here’s a list of the rest of the novels I read in March. Please be aware, affiliate linkies are included, so if you click through and buy something I make a tiny (and I mean tiny) commission, which doesn’t cost you any extra.
