There are days when you realise how lucky you are to live where you do.
I had one of those days recently, when I took a drive just out of town, up into the hills to a place called Gribdale Gate, which is right on the edge of the North York Moors and provides some panoramic views across both Teesside and the Yorkshire hills.
Despite living in a large industrial town, I’m a few minutes away from some of the most beautiful scenery in Britain. North Yorkshire is full of rugged, windswept moors, dramatic coastlines, picturesque villages and endless skies. I wander around for hours with my camera, trying to capture the sheer inspiration that comes from each flash of landscape.
My trip was also the perfect opportunity to take some photos as part of the #MyYorkshirePhoto campaign, which has been put together by a travel company who believe in slowing down and taking a fresh look at the world, enjoying the countryside and immersing yourself in local life.
All things that are close to my heart!
So here are a few of the photographs I took, and if you’re a local, get involved and share a few of your favourite Yorkshire images on Twitter or Instagram.
Disclaimer: thanks to Inntravel for inviting me to take part in the #MyYorkshirePhoto campaign, and for sending across a polaroid camera so I can work on capturing even more great pictures of North Yorkshire.
