I thought I’d follow up Thursday’s post on my trip to Shakespeare’s Globe with this fantastic quote from their exhibition, which explains just how deeply rooted the Bard’s work is in the English language today.
If you ever questioned the value of studying Shakespeare at school, this might give you an idea of how influential his plays have been.
Zoe Wanamaker, whose father Sam was the driving force behind the modern Globe Theatre, said:
Shakespeare’s taught me that there are more words in the English language than I have got in my head.”
Charlie Simpson says
I just love this quote, nuff said.
Amy Lord says
Cool isn’t it!
