Last week Rhiannon from Ivory Owl Reviews nominated me for the Liebster Award (thanks!) and posed a few book related questions.
I’ve been given the award before, so I won’t pass it on to any other bloggers, but I thought I’d still answer the questions with a little bit of information about my reading habits.
What is your favourite book of 2014 so far?
I’m not sure I have a favourite, but The Southern Reach trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer is amazing – a very chilling and thought-provoking read.
Do you re-read any books on a regular basis?
I love rereading and can go through my favourites over and over. I’ve recently been on a True Blood kick, thanks to the TV series coming to an end, so I decided to reread all the books. It was fantastic to immerse myself in that world again, reading the stories back-to-back you pick up so many of the details that you might otherwise miss.
How long have you been book blogging?
I celebrated my second blogging anniversary at the beginning of September. The two years have flown by.
What is your favourite book blogging link-up?
I don’t tend to follow link-ups, but Oh, the Books! do a great link roundup each Sunday that is usually really comprehensive and contains masses of articles. Kristin at My Life as a Teacup also does a good Link Love post with lots of interesting content.
How many books do you usually read each year?
I’ve never kept count before, but this year I decided I wanted to start tracking my books and keeping a record of what I read. My goal for the year was 50 books, but I hit that in August so I’ll see where I get to by the end of the year. I’m trying not to set another target as I don’t want to pressure myself, but I do get carried away by the need to read as much as possible!
Do you save all your books or do you do regular purges?
I tend to save them, unless I end up with two copies of something. But I have recently had a purge as I’ve just moved house and my collection was getting a bit unmanageable. Once we’re sorted at the other end I think a few more will be going out to charity, or I might do a small giveaway on my blog.
What book really sparked your love of reading?
I don’t think I could choose just one! I’ve been a reader since I was very young and even as a child I would read anything I could get my hands on, whether it was for children or adults. I remember reading The Crow Road by Iain Banks when I was about 11 and it’s still one of my favourite books today.
Do you have any authors that you have read everything they have written?
There are probably a few! I’ve read most of Haruki Murakami’s work and will hopefully get chance to read his new book soon. At the moment, I’m really enjoying James Smythe’s writing, so I’m planning to go through the rest of his books too.
What is your favourite reading snack?
I don’t eat while I’m reading; I save that for watching my favourite television shows!
What is your least favourite book?
There isn’t one particular book that I hate, but I did write this post a while ago about a few popular novels that I didn’t really enjoy.
What time of day is your usual reading time?
I read whenever I can find the time, whether it’s during a break at work or before bed.

This is such an awesome questionnaire! And thank you for the shout-out 🙂
Congrats on the 50-book goal! I hit mine in about August too, which I didn’t even think I would hit this year period! Time to rethink my goals…

Go you! As I don’t usually count the books I get through, I thought 50 would be about right, so I was surprised to hit it this early in the year.
And you’re very welcome for the mention, always enjoy your posts 🙂
