Last week the day finally arrived for us to move house.
Among a sea of boxes, flat packed furniture and overflowing shopping bags, I was – naturally – most bothered about my books. And there were a lot of them to pack, believe me.
I’ve shared it before, but this post from Book Riot has some great tips for anyone thinking of packing up a hefty personal library and moving somewhere new. It’s a fairly straightforward process really, in theory.
Don’t overload large boxes with books because you’ll never lift them, and the removal men won’t be as careful as you would. Pack the boxes neatly and get your shelves arranged as quickly as you can at the other end. And obviously, pack your books first so you get all the best boxes.
Unfortunately for me, we’re having some work done in the new house, which means my books will be staying in boxes for a little bit longer, shifting from room to room as I anxiously try to find enough space for everything whilst keeping things out of the way.
If ever there was a time to wish I’d discovered a love for e-readers earlier…
Still, once the bookshelves are up, this house will really feel like home.
