Last weekend I took a trip down to Bristol to visit friends and while I was there we spent some time wandering around Clifton Village and across the suspension bridge, which spans the River Avon and the Avon Gorge.
It’s a beautiful structure and has some fantastic views, even in the fog.
Sadly it’s also known as a suicide spot; one story from the nineteenth century tells of a young woman who leapt from the bridge, only for her skirts to billow out like a parachute, breaking her fall and saving her life.

Such a beautiful spot! It’s a shame it has had a negative history. The view with the cliffs, fog, and bridge actually remind me of Pittsburgh a bit 🙂

Bristol has this feeling of decayed grandeur – very beautiful!
