If I’m honest, January isn’t my favourite time of year. Despite the promise of a new year, I always find the back to work blues kick in as soon as the holidays are over. This year I’m finding them especially difficult to deal with.
But one thing that’s been on my mind much more than usual is travel.
I’ve never really been the adventurous type, but over the last couple of years my desire to see more of the world has grown. Since we came back from New York, I’ve thought endlessly about our trip, about going back, about where the next journey might take me.
Right now I’m reading more travel blogs than ever. My house isn’t only full of books and literary motifs, maps are starting to appear too. It brings the world a little bit closer.
This isn’t a travel blog, but I hope you won’t mind if it becomes a more common topic of conversation here. I’ll always be a book lover and a writer and this blog will always reflect that, but right now the wanderlust is burning away at me and I’d like to explore it a little bit more. I’d like to write about the places I’ve been, to create my own record as much as anything. When I travel I take photographs constantly, and I’d like to share some of them with you because sometimes the world is too beautiful not to share.
Last year the number of posts I wrote about the area I live in dropped. I didn’t explore as much and I didn’t feel like I had much to share. I want that to change.
This blog was always supposed to be about inspiration and that’s what travel can be. So whether I’m visiting somewhere close to home, or taking a long haul holiday, this year I’ll be sharing some of it here too.
So when I’m sitting in my office wishing I was somewhere else, at least in my dreams, my memories, I will be.

Ever since my trip to Austin, which was only a few days ago, I’ve been thinking about all of the places I want to go! I definitely think you should talk about travel since it’s something everyone loves!

I like it when book bloggers feature different topics on their blog as well, so I think doing some travel related posts now and then is a rgeat idea! I follow only one travel blog and a few cooking blogs, it’s fun to read about different topics than books sometimes.
I haven’t had the opportunity to travel a lot in the past few years and while I am not really an away from home type of person, I love being in a different place and exploring the surroundings.

Thanks Lola! I guess I’ve always been a homebody, but the older I get the more I love to travel and visit new places – it’s a feeling you just can’t beat!
