If you run a blog, chances are you’ve felt it at least once. That soul crushing thought that creeps up on you on your down days.
What’s the point?
Sometimes it can be hard to remember why you started blogging. It’s easy to be sucked into the whirlwind of visitor numbers, page views, sponsored posts and giveaways. It’s easy to feel like nothing you do is good enough.
But blogging doesn’t have to be about business. It’s a chance to be creative, to reflect on your life or the things you love the most. It gives you the opportunity to learn a new skill: improve your writing, start taking photographs, put together DIY posts, share new recipes – whatever interests you.
Use your blog as a place to preserve your own memories and work on your passion projects. Don’t feel that it always has to be about attracting more readers and sharing content that will appeal to them, but that saps your energy.
When you wonder why you ever bothered, take some time to scroll back through your old posts. It’s all there: the idle thoughts, the travel photos, the significant events, the things that got you so excited you had to share them.
They’re the reason why you have a blog. Because you want to be creative, you want to make connections. You want to remember your dreams.

Great post. I’m starting to use my blog a bit more seriously and keep having these thoughts but you’re right it’s about recording your life.

Thanks Emma, hope the blogging goes well!

Thank you for this post. Life events have kind of taken over recently and I’ve blogged alot less. Your post reminds me that it’s those events that I wanted to remember were the very reason I started a blog in the first place! Great timing my lovely, thank you

I like this. I have wondered why I blog sometimes but I enjoy it and it keeps me busy when I feel like doing nothing and that is something I really needed when I started out.

Thanks Charlotte – you’re right, it’s hard to do nothing when you have a blog, there’s always something to be done!
