Last week I went up to Newcastle for an evening at the Jazz Café with a bunch of other North East bloggers.
We were invited to take part in an evening of retro bingo by Joe Blogs and bgo. When the invitation dropped into my inbox, I was intrigued.
My first ever job was in a bingo hall, where my main tasks were running around with a tray of change for the parti bingo machines and checking the serial numbers on winning tickets. Not the most glamorous of jobs, but it kept me going for a couple of years during university.
So an evening of retro bingo seemed like a fun idea.
The Jazz Café is a cute little venue that I’ve never visited before, but if the buffet – heavily laden with a variety of cake – is anything to go by, it may be a future lunch spot when I’m in Newcastle.
And retro bingo turned out to be the most fun I’ve had in ages!
Rather than checking off numbers, we played rock ‘n’ roll themed bingo. Each of us was given a sheet with a grid full of song titles and the DJ started playing the tunes one by one, as we tried to check them off to win a prize.
Cue a couple of hours spent bopping along to the music while trying to get a full house. Rock ‘n’ roll bingo is definitely a great idea for a party game and I’m going to be forcing it on people at house parties for years to come. You have been warned!
Plus it was fantastic to meet some lovely North East bloggers. A high point of the evening was watching the antics of the Joe Blogs team as Chloe from New Girl in Toon won a giant inflatable dinosaur, which they had to deflate so she could get it home on the Metro.
Not something you see every day!

So much fun! I think I’d be disappointed if I played bingo with numbers now!
