Do you ever get to Sunday night and wonder where your weekend went?
I’ll admit, I’m not always the best at making the most of my time off. I’ve always been an introvert, which means I enjoy my quiet time.
But over the last few years, I’ve begun to crave the opportunity to get out and about more, to explore new places and do fun things. Sitting at home doesn’t have the same appeal.
Unfortunately I’m not a natural organiser and time flies when you’re busy, so it’s easy for Friday to roll round and I’ve not made any solid plans for the weekend. I often end up grumbling to myself, as my days off are dominated by housework and fretting about my to-do list at work. Not very relaxing.
That’s why I enjoy having an escape booked.
Sure, I can’t take a trip every weekend. But being away somewhere new always feels invigorating, even if I don’t do much more than I would have done at home.
I can read, wander round with my camera and generally just laze with my husband, all while feeling like I’m making the most of my time.
For me, it’s about getting the balance right. I love a chilled out evening with a book or a few episodes of one of my favourite shows, but those nights are always best when they come after a busy day out or a week full of socialising and work commitments.
So here’s to enjoying the weekend, before Monday rolls round and we wish we could do it all again!
