Now that we’re well and truly into April and almost a third of the way through the year – I know, frightening isn’t it – it seemed like a good time to check in with my New Year goals and see if I’ve actually made any progress!
So what was I planning for this year?
Create my workspace
There has been zero progress on this one unfortunately. I had planned to set up some desk space in our dining room, but I wavered and wondered if I wouldn’t prefer to be in the spare bedroom, as I could arrange my desk so I can look out of the window while I work.
But that room still needs decorating and I haven’t fancied tackling it just yet.
Finish my novel
I have been working on my book here and there, and have managed to be more consistent recently, although I’ve only been tweaking things.
However, I have recently entered a couple of competitions, so we’ll see what happens, but at least I’ve managed to do something.
Start writing my next novel
Not a word, I’m afraid.
Visit three new countries
I’ve managed one so far: Latvia. Hopefully we’ll be taking more trips later in the year, but as we’ve just bought a puppy, I don’t think we’ll be travelling anywhere new for a while.
Enjoy my new job
It’s super busy and exhausting most of the time, but it does feel like I’ve made a lot of progress with the job and I’ve developed some new skills too.
Explore Goodreads
Haven’t even been on it.
Refresh Ten Penny Dreams
This has probably been the most successful goal of the year so far, thanks to the makeover the blog had at Easter. Admittedly, I was forced into it due to technical issues, but I’m pleased with how it’s turned out and it feels like the new look was long overdue.
Although I must admit, I do miss my logo and feel like the blog may have lost a bit of its personality, as it’s now very sleek and minimalist. But hopefully I’ll get chance to rework the old logo to fit in with the new theme at some point, so it should be making a reappearance.
How are you getting on with your goals for the year? Better than me I hope!

It sounds like you are making good progress so far. My goal is to make it through alive, so far so good.

Ha, that’s probably the ultimate goal for the year!

My goal of having the first draft of my new novel finished by May is probably not going to happen since I’ve been reading a lot more than writing lately. BUT I’m getting back into writing, so yay!

Even the little bits of writing here and there are positive so that’s great! Good luck!
