Summer hasn’t exactly hit the north of England full force yet; it’s the middle of June and the weather is mostly cold and damp.
But a few weeks back we had a gorgeous sunny Sunday morning, so we decided to take our puppy Dixie for her first trip to the beach.
South Gare is one of my favourite places on Teesside. Despite being in the shadow of the now defunct steelworks, and with a wind farm out to sea, for me it represents the area’s relationship between industry and rugged natural beauty.
It’s popular with dog walkers too, and Dixie absolutely loved bombing around the sand dunes, digging, and splashing around in the waves.
She’s not quite brave enough to go swimming yet, but she came home soaked and covered in sand, so I think she had a good time!
It’s a little strange to look back at these pictures now, as she’s grown so much in the three weeks or so since they were taken. She’s becoming a furry little monster, and we love her to bits!
