For all the blogs that become successful, there are hundreds more that have been abandoned over time.
These now empty spaces that once represented someone’s dreams; their lives distilled into a series of carefully constructed articles that quietly grow dust.
Scrolling through my Bloglovin’ feed, I couldn’t help but feel sad at the long list of blogs I used to read that haven’t been updated for so long. Some in particular have left a hole.
In some cases, the blogger has cut back on their schedule. They might still post new content, occasionally.
Perhaps they’ve lost the passion they had for sharing their thoughts online, or maybe their lives have changed and blogging no longer has a place. Maybe they’ve moved on.
They might even have decided to embrace the slow blogging trend, putting less pressure on themselves to be forever plugged in.
But many of these blogs have been left to wither.
Some lasted for years, while others burst into life and disappeared as quickly.
Glancing through the names, I felt a stab of longing for all those posts that once inspired me, or got me through a difficult day.
I miss hearing from some of these incredible women, who put so much thought and energy into their writing. I miss reading about their latest achievements, or their dreams and plans for the future.
These snapshots of life we share can be so fleeting, but the connections we make mean something.
Writing can make a difference in someone’s life.
For all the blogs that got lost along the way, or the ones that are slowly fading, there is someone reading who will be sorry to see things end.
But they’ll remember the blog that once made them smile, because it went beyond the internet. It meant something real.
