Another month has passed and it’s time to think about some of the best things from the last few weeks.
1. Reading a bit more
This year has been a bit rubbish when it comes to reading…
I haven’t read anything like the number of books I usually would, but over the last couple of months things have started to pick up and I’ve managed to get back into something of a routine, and I’ve enjoyed the books I have read.
2. An encouraging email
I had an unexpected email this month, from a publisher who I submitted my novel to almost a year ago, as part of an open submissions period.
They wrote to tell me they weren’t going to take my manuscript forward, but several members of the team had read it and were impressed.
Although it was a rejection, it was incredibly encouraging and I keep flicking back to read the email again each time I feel a bit down.
3. Stir of Echoes
As I sat down to write this post, I started flicking through the channels on the television and came across an old Kevin Bacon film, Stir of Echoes, on the Horror channel.
I haven’t seen it for years but it’s a film I always really enjoyed – and husband hates it!
If you haven’t seen it, 90s Kevin Bacon discovers he can see ghosts after being hypnotised, and he soon discovers that something sinister is going on in his neighbourhood.
It’s a great creepy film to watch if you enjoy a plot driven horror thriller!
4. Kopparberg fruit beer
Since Kopparberg brought out their lemon and lime flavoured lager, it’s become something of an addiction.
It’s the perfect drink for a lazy summer evening and I stock up each time I go to the supermarket.
5. A new baby
One of my best friends from school had a baby last week, and I’m looking forward to meeting him.
It’s strange to think that we’re all grown up now…
So that’s a few of the highlights from the last month. What was the best part of your July?
