So December has slipped by and I’ve been unusually quiet…
Over the last year or so, I’ve been sharing some of my favourite music; the songs that I listen to when I’m trying to evoke the mood to write.
I thought I’d break my silence with one final song before the year comes to an end.
Kingsley Chapman and the Murder have been one of my favourite bands this year. They’re based on Teesside, so I’m fortunate to have seen them live several times and it’s always a spectacle of sparkling Gothic proportions. They play the kind of music that was made to be performed live.
Earlier this week they released a new single in time for Christmas and it might just be my favourite. The Stars Fall Down is sad and dark; full of sweeping strings and the melancholy strains of trumpet.
I get shivers every time I hear it.
Plus, the video showcases the lads’ unique take on the nativity – my favourite moment has to be the bloke two doors down sticking his head out to see what the hell is going on.
