A couple of weeks ago, I had some exciting news.
I’ve been writing my novel, The Disappeared, for more than four years and I’ve been submitting it to agents, publishers and competitions for a while now too, with varying levels of success.
And then, one random Thursday afternoon, I checked my emails and found the message I’d been dreaming about for almost as long as I can remember: someone wanted to publish my novel.
There may have been tears…
I’m going to be working with Unbound to bring my book to life. If you haven’t come across them before, they’re a crowdfunding publisher who aims to give people the tools, support and freedom to bring their ideas to life. Unbound is a publisher interested in ideas that may be overlooked by the traditional publishing houses and they can pursue them because they involve their community in the publishing process.
For each book, a community of readers pledges their support.
Everyone who pledges receives a copy of the novel, with their name in the back as a supporter.
I’ve pledged for about half a dozen books on Unbound this year and it’s an addictive process. There’s something exciting about supporting a writer to make their dream a reality and to follow along with their journey.
But now, I need to ask for your support.
You can take a look at my crowdfunding campaign on Unbound, where you’ll be able to read a blurb about the story, watch a video of me discussing it and even read the first chapter.
If you enjoy it, I’d be so grateful if you could pledge to support the book, or even just share it with someone else who might be interested.
Writing a book can be a long and lonely road, but I’m hoping to find my community of readers along the way and I’d love for you to be a part of it.
