One of the things I was most looking forward to when publishing my novel was seeing the front cover.
And as my book now has its own Amazon page (eek!) and is available for pre-order, I can finally share it here.
Last autumn, my publisher sent across a questionnaire for me to fill out, where they asked about the book’s themes, the audience and my inspirations for the story. I included examples of book covers that I love and other images that evoked the feel I wanted my book to have.
And the designer really managed to nail the look and feel I was going for. I wanted my book cover to be bold, graphical and eye-catching, which it is.
Despite this, I was still surprised when I first saw the design – I didn’t have anything specific in mind when I wrote the brief, but the cover was still unexpected.
I’m really pleased with it though! The design captures the essence of the book and feels really appropriate to the dystopian genre. I’m so excited to get my hands on a printed copy, ahead of publication in May.
