Welcome to Ten Penny Dreams, a literary lifestyle blog about writing, reading, book loving, wanderlust and inspiration.
Hey there and thanks for visiting.
I’m Amy: a writer who loves books and all things creative. My debut novel, The Disappeared, was published by Unbound in May 2019. It made the longlist for the Bath Novel Award 2014 and won a Northern Writers’ Award in 2015.
My aim is to inspire and intrigue writers and book lovers, whilst also promoting a positive image of North East England.
I love to talk about my favourite reads, my thoughts on life and my dreams of becoming a writer. You’ll find book reviews alongside writing tips, discussion pieces and general ramblings, travel posts, along with as many photos of the North East as I can manage to share.
Check out my Manifesto for Dreamers to get a better idea of my creative passions or find out a few things you didn’t know about me.

Book review policy
I’m happy to consider book reviews, however, please remember that Ten Penny Dreams is a literary lifestyle blog rather than a traditional book blog. That means that although I review books, I also share a lot of other content too, so my review time is limited.
As a book lover, I will give most genres a go, but I prefer literary fiction, contemporary fiction, non-fiction, YA, crime, thrillers and speculative fiction. However, I’m not really into chick lit or full on sci-fi.
Ten Penny Dreams aims to find passion, meaning and inspiration in literature so I don’t usually publish a review if I didn’t enjoy reading the book. To request a book review, please see the contact information below.
