One of the most famous structures in Bratislava, Slovakia is the Most SNP or Novy most bridge, also known as the UFO Bridge, thanks to the viewing tower that sits at one end and is shaped like a flying saucer.
For €7.40 you can take the elevator up to a height of 95 metres, which takes 45 seconds. From there it’s a just a couple of flights of stairs to the observation deck, which provides a panoramic view over Bratislava and into neighbouring Austria. The bridge spans the River Danube, so the viewing deck is a great place to watch the boats as they slowly sail up and down the river.
Below the observation deck is a bar and restaurant with floor to ceiling windows, and those ordering food from the menu can get access to the viewing gallery for free. Just watch out for the panoramic windows when you go to the toilet!
We visited on a particularly windy day and it was quite disconcerting to feel the tower swaying in the breeze, but you do get used to it after a while (and a couple of drinks!)
Definitely somewhere you should put on your itinerary if you’re ever in Bratislava.
