Stop. Take a break. Spend time taking care of yourself.
Don’t wait until you’re exhausted and your body is struggling to function.
Go outside and walk in the sunshine, or the rain.
Lay on the sofa for a whole day, doing nothing more strenuous than changing the channel on the television or getting up for a snack.
Sleep in.
Ignore your to do list.
Read a book. Not just a few pages; get lost in the story.
Talk to someone you love about life, the way you used to when you were both younger and had less responsibilities, when the world was full of possibility.
Laugh. Cry. Dance. Take some exercise.
Watch an old favourite film, one you haven’t seen for years. Watch a whole series of that show you’ve been meaning to catch up on.
Spend all day in your pyjamas.
Give yourself some time, some space.
Dream. Be.
Rest.

I wish I had read this last week. Currently suffering an almighty cold because I didn’t just rest! X

I wish it was that simple. My wife is going away to visit her mother in a few weeks. Maybe then…
