I’ll be honest; this is another post about crowdfunding.
This strange, frightening process took over my life at the end of last year and hasn’t yet released its grip.
My book is now 80% funded and the end is finally, tantalisingly in sight.
But I’ve become so caught up in the process that I keep forgetting there is more to it than just the crowdfunding. Once the money is raised, I have a manuscript to edit. A cover will be designed and the book will be typeset. I’ll have a marketing campaign to organise, reviews to secure and endless social media posts to write. The work of publishing a book never really ends.
Part of me knows that I should be organised and do some more editing in anticipation of the day the book is funded, but another part of me would rather focus my energy on crowdfunding.
And I don’t want to take the funding for granted.
Despite the time spent on crowdfunding and the publishing contract in my name, it still doesn’t feel real that one day fairly soon, my book will be published.
But it is real.
Dreams really do come true.
